Before Nikki found photography, she spent years as the head social worker of the special victims unit at the Baltimore City state attorney’s office. Bearing witness to people’s most challenging experiences taught her to leave space for emotions and discomfort, and to never try to change a truth into something neat and compact (it’s also why she also tends to thrive when things go left). While her work looks different now, the way she shows up for her clients, in Washington D.C., New York City, and beyond, is the same: in place of prescribed approaches and a need to make it all fit nicely, Nikki lets empathy and intuition lead the way—and neither have failed her yet.
